Chris Kiagiri

Chris is a husband of one, a father of two and a musician who has served in covocational pastoral ministry, while working in the information technology industry for more than two decades.

Chris grew up in a Christian home where he came to learn of the good news of salvation in Jesus alone, leading to his conversion and baptism. After high school, Chris matriculated at Stanford University, graduating with a degree in Science, Technology & Society and a minor in Mathematical and Computational Science. He then enrolled in seminary and graduated with a Masters degree in Bible Exposition along with graduate coursework in church music. He later earned an Executive MBA.

Chris joined Google as its second Kenyan employee globally, working in search quality and corporate IT at the company’s US headquarters. After a couple of years, he had the privilege of helping to set up the company’s first office in Sub-Saharan Africa, becoming the second employee to be based in its Kenya office.

While in Nairobi, Chris met and married Wavinya, and they have two (pre-teen and teenage) children who they are seeking to bring up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Chris loves a good cup of tea and enjoys all things golf, numbers and NBA basketball.

In 2016, Chris’ job took him back to the US, during which time he and Wavinya were members of two churches, the latter of which he served as a lay elder. At the end of 2021, Chris’ latest work assignment brought him back to Kenya, where he and Wavinya served as members of Thika Road Baptist Church until being sent off to be part of planting North Point Baptist Church.

On June 16th 2024, the North Point Baptist congregation voted to call Chris as an elder.
